Who we are
The Ballarat North Neighbourhood House has a proud 35-year history of supporting people to create, make, learn, connect and share.
We are one of four neighbourhood houses that operate across Ballarat and reflecting the changing needs of the Ballarat community, our House has gone through some exciting changes.
From August 2024, we changed our operating structure to an independent not-for-profit charity. We’re testing new delivery models and collaborating deeply with community to design and offer a new range of activities, events and learning opportunities.
As a charity, we are required to work towards our ‘charitable purpose’, which states that we have the responsibility of advancing social and public welfare by:
1) Advancing mental health and preventing social isolation.
2) Providing a physical location where it supports individuals to undertake activities, or work on projects, in the company of others.
Governance
Ballarat North Neighbourhood House is overseen by a Committee of Management with a group of diverse community members working as a volunteer committee alongside the committee to finalise policies, procedures and to contribute towards a new Strategic Plan for the House.
Inclusion
At Ballarat North Neighbourhood House we believe in fostering a community where everyone feels welcome, valued, and respected. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment that recognises and celebrates diversity in all its forms, including race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and socio-economic status.
We strive to ensure that every community member has the opportunity to participate fully in our community. We actively work to remove barriers to inclusion and promote a culture of respect, dignity, and fairness. Our goal is to build a connected and supportive community where everyone can thrive.
